Assistant Principal & Dean of Academics and Administration

Status: Exempt
Reports To: Head of School

Position Summary

The Assistant Principal & Dean of Academics and Administration serves as a member of the senior leadership team and assists the Head of School in providing leadership for the academic, administrative, operational, and student life functions of St. Frederick High School. This position oversees academic programs, faculty support, administrative systems, student records, technology platforms, communications, and institutional processes to ensure the effective operation of the school and the achievement of its mission.

Essential Responsibilities

Academic Leadership

  • Provide leadership and oversight of the school's academic program for grades 7-12.
  • Oversee curriculum development, alignment, implementation, assessment, and academic planning.
  • Coordinate course offerings, academic scheduling, graduation requirements, and student academic progress.
  • Support faculty development, supervision, orientation, and professional growth.
  • Analyze academic data and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with diocesan, state, accreditation, and International Baccalaureate (IB) requirements.

IB Program Support

  • Collaborate with the IB Coordinator to ensure successful implementation of the IB program.
  • Support curriculum alignment, faculty development, scheduling, and academic policies that promote IB standards and philosophy.
  • Assist in preparation for IB authorization, evaluation, and program review processes.

Student Life

  • Supervise student activities, arrival, lunch periods, dismissal, and school events.
  • Serve as Acting Head of School when designated.

Administrative Operations

  • Advise the Head of School regarding academic and administrative operations, organizational processes, technology systems, and institutional effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, calendars, workflows, and operational protocols.
  • Coordinate communication and information flow among departments, faculty, staff, students, and families.
  • Oversee student records, transcripts, scheduling, graduation audits, and registrar functions.
  • Provide administrative oversight of FACTS, TADS, student information systems, and other school management platforms.

Leadership and School Community

  • Support the mission and Catholic identity of St. Frederick High School.
  • Assist with strategic planning and school improvement initiatives.
  • Attend school-sponsored events and activities requiring administrative presence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.

Qualifications

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Master's degree in Educational Administration, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience; administrative experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency with educational technology and student information systems.

Working Conditions

Full-time, 12-month administrative position. Evening and weekend responsibilities are occasionally required. Must possess a valid driver's license and the ability to travel as needed.

Salary

According to the St. Frederick High School Administrative Salary Scale.
